Q: What is the cost of your service?

A: There is no upfront cost and there is no back-end cost. If a client commits to signing a lease on a unit that we’ve found and shown them, we will charge you the first month’s rent as a finder’s fee. There is no cost for the service itself.

Q: What type of service agreement do I have to enter into by using Apartment Vigilantes?

A: We will ask that you sign a contract which releases liability and allows us to show your property to prospective renters. It is non-binding and non-limiting, meaning that if you’re not happy with our service, you can use somebody else, concomitantly, if you wish. It also states that Apartment Vigilantes will receive the first month’s rent, or security deposit, in the instance that we are directly responsible for the rental of a unit. The contract assigns us no further authority or monetary compensation than that.

Q: What if I decide that using you guys is not worth my time?

A: While this is not often the case, some property owners have decided that they are better off on their own, and we understand that. A simple phone call or request to one our agents will be enough to withdraw our services and we and will erase your property from our listings. Aside from a simple questionnaire, we will not call you, pressure you, or ask for your future consideration unless we hear from you first.

Q: What differentiates you from other companies?

A: Because we believe there is no substitute for human understanding. While we do use computers for initial matching purposes, we assign each of our clients and landlords a dedicated agent who will get to know you, listen to your requests, and genuinely try and find the best fit. We drink a lot of Red Bull and work late hours to ensure both our property owners and clients get exactly what they’re promised: Results.

Q: Can I use as another apartment scouting company while I’m using you guys?

A: Absolutely. We welcome a challenge.

Q: How quickly can I expect results?

A: It will take approximately one day before all of your information can be entered and verified. Shortly thereafter you should expect that we will begin coming by with prospective renters on a routine basis, depending on the number of vacancies you have.

Q: Do you guys cover the suburbs?

A: As of right now, our coverage area is Chicago proper. We deal with properties as far south as Hyde Park and north as far as -  but not including - Evanston. Unfortunately, we cannot offer our services to the greater Metroland area (IE the suburbs) at this time. We do ultimately hope to expend our service to the entirety of the surrounding suburban communities in the near future.
