Andersonville
Once known as a small, quaint village comprised of primarily Swedish immigrants, Andersonville is now one of Chicago’s most popular north side neighborhoods. Andersonville was heavily influenced by Swedish immigrants and their markings can still be seen today in several Swedish inspired shops and restaurants. There is even a Swedish American Museum in their honor. The main shopping district is located on Clark street and is known for it’s unique commercial district, made up primarily of restaurants, shops, and beautiful boutiques. Andersonville is also home to numerous cinema productions that included performers such as Charlie Chaplin and Gloria Swanson, both of whom worked in the Essanay studio located on Arglye Street. The town is easily accessible through both the Purple and the Red Lines, as well as several CTA lines. Homes in the area are made up primarily of two and three flats, but larger apartment complexes are also prevalent. With its rich history and vibrant entertainment district, Andersonville is a wonderful place to call home.
