EDGEWATER

Edgewater is a wonderful beachfront community nestled along Chicago’s beautiful Lakefront.  It is seven miles north of downtown and is a diverse neighborhood.  There is the Argyle District with Pan-Asian eateries and shops gracing all storefronts.  A large population of Loyola University students call this beachfront community home.  For a good burger check out Moody’s Pub or for good old school pizza visit Gino’s North.  There are two beaches that many flock to in summer months, Osterman Beach and Foster Beach.  There is also the Bryn Mawr Historic District located between Broadway and Sheridan.  The community was founded by John Lewis Cochran and given its name in 1885.  The historic Edgewater Beach Apartments (now sometimes called the pink building) was developed in 1916.  Edgewater is accessible through the Red and Purple Lines and several CTA buses.
