LINCOLN PARK
Lincoln Park is named after the 1,000 acre park on it’s eastern border. The park itself was originally going to be named Lake Park but changed its name after President Lincoln was assassinated. The enormous 1,000 acre park is home to both running paths and bike baths along the lakefront as well as athletic fields, a golf course, tennis courts, and a playground. Lincoln Park is also home to Lincoln Park Zoo, the largest free zoo in the US. Children’s Memorial Hospital is found in Lincoln Park and draws a large amount of residents moving into the area each year. There is great theatre here at the Second City, Steppenwolf or Biograph Theatre (where John Dillinger was shot dead). There are tons of bars, restaurants, and clubs within Lincoln Park as well as great shopping on Armitage Avenue. Lincoln Park also serves as home to DePaul University. Homes in the Lincoln Park area vary from two and three flats, high-rise, mid-rise, courtyards, and 4+1’s. Lincoln Park is one of Chicago’s best known and most populated neighborhoods.
