RIVER NORTH

River North was developed by Albert Friedman and the first residents were artists and performers from the nearby theatre district. It is located just North of the river steps from the Loop. The neighborhood has been compared to New York’s Soho and has begun to become a more upscale neighborhood. River North is home to The River North Gallery District, the highest concentration of art galleries outside of Manhattan. It is within close proximity to the Merchandise Mart and is home to many young professionals who enjoy being close to the business district. Celebrities have been spotted throughout River North at several restaurants and shops, or just taking a stroll through the neighborhood. Many new townhomes, mid-rise’s, and lofts are found in this area.
